28 June: Concert with Søblomsten Shanty Choir and historical walk

Søblomsten Shanty Choir was established in 2023 as part of an effort to honour Søblomsten, the boatbuilding heritage in Vestnes, and the work done to bring the vessel back to life. With Søblomsten on its way to being integrated into the Romsdal Museum, it is fitting to invite the shanty choir into Veøya Church, where the large male choir will help lift the roof.

5 July: Concert with Beate Mordal

A very exclusive concert will take place on Veøya on 5 July with Beate Mordal. Beate has become a highly sought-after concert singer in addition to opera and acting, often combining jazz, musical theatre, and opera. With the excellent guitarist Espen Bjarnar accompanying her, the audience will hear beautiful interpretations of Kjetil Bjørnstad’s “Sommernatt ved fjorden”, along with works by Grieg and songs from Billie Holiday’s repertoire – all specially arranged for this occasion.

12 July: Concert with Ola Kvernberg & Stian Carstensen

In surroundings dating back to the time when Sigurd the Crusader traded his sword for mead, Ola Kvernberg and Stian Carstensen take up fiddle, accordion, and banjo – inviting you to an acoustic performance. The repertoire ranges from traditional Romsdal folk dance to bebop from 52nd Street and Hungarian dances.

19 July: Concert with the Steinar Ofsdal Trio

A rare concert by one of Norway’s most famous flautists!

It is a major event when Steinar Ofsdal brings his flutes to the stone church on Veøya. He is joined by two outstanding musicians: Espen Wensaas from Geilo on cittern, guitar, and mandolin, and Sanskriti Shrestha from Kathmandu on tabla, madal, darbuka, and other percussion instruments.

26 July: Concert with Polkabjørn & Kleine Heine

The world’s best yodelling and accordion duo comes to Veøya!

If you have a soft spot for interwar songs and cabaret-style music from the 1930s, this is an event you will not want to miss.

The band, which has delighted audiences at home and abroad for over 10 years, has also supported artists such as A-ha, Ylvis, Katzenjammer, Mods, and Dina Martin (daughter of Dean Martin). Their documentary *The Art of Yodeling* has been sold to more than 20 countries. And who could forget their hit *I Like to Ski* from 2011?

2 August: Terje Vigen, Ibsen in Romsdal

Per Egil Aske is a beloved Norwegian actor from Molde, known from productions such as “Kongen av Veøy” and “Driving Miles”. He has become a regular part of Veøya’s summer programme. In cooperation with Teatret Vårt, the Romsdal Museum presents an excerpt from the monologue about Veøya’s benefactor Jonas Lied. The performance premiered at Teatret Vårt in autumn 2024 and received excellent reviews. For those who saw it, this will be a welcome reunion; for those who missed it, a great opportunity to experience a highlight from this acclaimed production written by Erlend and Vidar Sandem.
