This guided tour from Æventyr offers an exciting experience starting with a scenic snowmobile ride through snow-covered forests and out onto vast mountain plateaus with panoramic views. Throughout the journey, you can enjoy the peaceful beauty of untouched nature, far away from the stress of everyday life.
The tour starts at 09:30 with pickup at the Æventyr Adventure Store in central Alta. From there, you travel 25 km to the historic Gargia Lodge. Upon arrival at 10:00, guests are provided with warm thermal suits, balaclavas, gloves, and boots before heading out on the snowmobile tour. After a short safety briefing at 10:30, the snowmobile ride begins through spectacular landscapes, with stops at impressive viewpoints. At 11:30, we stop at Bæskades to enjoy panoramic views of the Finnmarksvidda plateau before continuing to the destination, Mostajàvri, a secluded lake perfect for ice fishing.
Upon arrival at Mostajàvri, a warm lunch is served featuring the traditional Bidos stew, followed by ice fishing. If you are lucky, you may catch Arctic fish such as trout or Arctic char, which can be grilled over the fire, offering an authentic Arctic experience. The tour concludes with a return to Gargia Lodge at 15:00, and drop-off in the city centre around 16:00.
